Women in Business

Women in Business

The women of K-State today will be the future changemakers, CEOs, and business leaders of tomorrow. The K-State College of Business strives to foster an inclusive learning environment for students throughout their time at K-State and beyond. As a part of our strategic plan for diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging, we are proud to launch the Women in Business Initiative. Hosted by the Center for Principled Business, this new initiative serves current college students, alumni, working professionals, as well as regional high school students. The Women in Business Initiative fosters a network of innovation and collaboration through academic and co-curricular learning opportunities, and supports business research related to the broader goals of the initiative. The Women in Business Initiative works to educate, empower, and engage leaders, to create social and economic impact and enhance societal prosperity.

Goals of the Women in Business Initiative

  • Educate: Increase enrollment by women in the College of Business
    • Introduce women to career opportunities in business, with particular emphasis on underrepresented disciplines
    • Reach 50% enrollment by women within the College (current enrollment is 37%)
  • Empower: Provide additional support and opportunities for current K-State students
    • Offer additional personal and professional development opportunities for current students as they prepare to move into the workforce
  • Engage: Connect current & future K-Staters with alumni and corporate partners
    • Connect successful alumni, friends, and corporate partners with high school and college students to offer mentoring, networking, and learning opportunities, and scholarship support

The mission of the Center for Principled Business is to engage in teaching and research activities that develop business leaders and enhance societal prosperity. Through our work in economic education, entrepreneurship and innovation, and business ethics, we offer academic and co-curricular programming to advance opportunities for women in the workplace. Research shows that company profits and share performance can be nearly 50 percent higher when women are well- represented in leadership (McKinsey & Company, 2020). We are committed to empowering individuals to break barriers that stand in the way of realizing their full potential.
